The three most important cider works are located in a radius of 60 kilometres around Rennes and represent more than 84% of the volumes. In addition to these big structures, about 70 farmer producers and artisans are located in Brittany.

The farmer and artisanal sector represents 16% of the Breton cider production, being 70,000 hectolitres per year. The cider is mainly commercialised through the volume retailing and the creperies.

The cider from Cornouaille is the first from Brittany that gets the Protected Designation of Origin, produced in 38 towns in the South of Finistère, on the coast and around Quimper.
