Villagers carrying torches gather in the orchad on the twelfth night and circle the largest tree. They pour cider on the roots, hang toast on the branches as offerings, fire guns and make loud noises to frighten away the evil spirits. Everyone sings songs to the trees to ensure a good harvest in the fall.
